Car Oil Specs is an independent reference for one practical question: what oil does my car take, and how much? Each page covers a model and generation, with the oil type and capacity for every engine, the oil filter, the change interval and how to reset the oil life reminder.
Where the numbers come from
Every spec on this site is taken from the vehicle manufacturer’s official information, mainly the owner’s manual for that model year. Each page names the source we used and the date it was last checked. When the manufacturer lists different capacities by engine or drivetrain, we show them separately instead of giving one generic number.
How we build each page
- We look up the owner’s manual for each model year and engine.
- We list the oil capacity with the filter change, in quarts and liters, plus the recommended viscosity and oil specification.
- When several model years share the same data, we group them on one page so you do not have to compare near-identical pages.
- We add the step-by-step oil life reset and other details owners usually have to search for separately.
- We may use software tools, including AI, to help draft and format pages. Every spec is checked by a person against the official source before it is published.
Corrections
Manufacturers sometimes update their recommendations, and mistakes can happen. If you spot something that does not match your owner’s manual, please tell us through the contact page. We review every report and update the page and its date.
